Flowers

By: Mandy                    Project Type:  Wire Working

This simple flower can be used as a focal point on a Necklace, Bracelet or Earrings or just embellishments on other projects. Experiment with lots of different beads and colors to get entirely different looks.  Try different numbers of petals and shapes of beads, you will probably amaze yourself when you get the hang of this one.

Materials:

  • 5 tear drop, banana shaped, rectangular or BiWa beads (with vertical hole, hole drilled long ways through bead)
  • 1 round bead, for the center of your flower
  • 1 foot 22 gauge wire

Instructions:

1.     Cut 1 foot of wire and straighten

2.     String round, center bead and stop halfway along the wire

3.     Bend wire 90 degrees directly outside the bead hole (Step 1)

4.     Twist the two 6” wire tails tightly around the center bead (two twists) (Step 2)

5.     Sting a teardrop on one of the wire tails.

6.     Fold wire close to teardrop towards center bead (Step 3)

7.     Wrap the piece of wire around the center wraps (Step 4)

8.     String another teardrop on the other side. Fold and twist around the center warp, as before.

9.     End with wires directly opposite of each other. (Step 5)

10.  String, fold and twist another teardrop on each of the wires, ending with one wire out the back of the flower, and one in between two of the petals (Step 6)

11.  With the wire in between the petals, string, fold and twist another teardrop, ending with the wire out the back of the flower.

12.  You can clip the remaining wire to end with a flower, or leave them and use them to attach your flower to a necklace, or any other piece of jewelry.
